The Day of Service is a great opportunity to be “On Mission,” as we extend hope to our neighbors in the Carterville area. From yard work, to light construction, to painting, to simply cleaning and organizing, we hope to be the hands and feet of Jesus for our community in this way.
Day of Service 2021 Schedule:
8:00 am • Check in (Comet Park)
8:45 am - 9:00 am • Head to projects
9:00 am - 11:45 am • Work projects (go to Comet Park when you are finished)
12:00 pm • Lunch at Comet Park (don't forget to bring a chair)
What to Expect:
Once you sign up, you will be placed with a project based on your preferences. We will do our best to place you in a job that you requested, but there may be a chance you will be placed where there is the greatest need.
Leading up to The Day of Service, you will find out which project you will be working on and what tools (if any) are needed.
Check-In will happen at Comet Park on Main Street in Carterville, MO at 8:00 am. A quick meeting will follow check-in to talk about the day’s schedule and any important locations (debris drop off, tool drop off, lunch, etc.). Then everyone will be sent out to their projects!
What to Wear:
In general, wear work clothes. Keep in mind you will most likely get dirty. Also keep in mind the type of project you are working on. If you’re working outdoors with brush or yard work you may want to wear jeans or long sleeves. If it’s light construction, you should wear close-toed shoes. Last thing to keep in mind is Missouri weather. Keep an eye on the weather as the day approaches so you will be prepared.
What to Bring:
Bring a willingness to be flexible. Yes we want to complete these projects on the day, but we also want to build each other up and fulfill John 13:35: "by this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."
Bring tools related to your project. If you don't have any, no worries, either we will have some extras on hand, or someone in the group will have extras.
Bring a chair for lunch at Comet Park (lunch is provided).
